Taxation

All businesses and individuals in South Africa need to register as tax payers. Previously individual who earned less than R60,000 per year did not have to register and submit an income tax return but this is not the case anymore. Individuals who earn less than R120,000 per year, being employed by only one employer during that year and have no other sources of income don’t have to submit a income tax return for that year.

All provisional tax payers also have to submit a provisional tax return every 6 months. This happens 31 August and 28 February. It is important that the estimates of taxable income used to make the provisional tax payments are within 90% on the actual taxable income. If this is not the case penalties and interest will be incurred.

We also assist clients with submitting their new dividend tax returns.
